Paris Saint-Germain received terrible news on Thursday as they’ll be without Lucas Hernandez for the rest of the season. The French defender sustained an injury in the 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal tie.

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano relayed the news that Hernandez left the game toward the end of the first half. It’s now revealed that the 27-year-old suffered a torn ACL. The injury will keep him out for six to seven months.

As a result, Hernandez will miss the second leg against Dortmund, the Champions League final should PSG reach that stage, the Coupe de France Final against Olympique Lyonnais, and the UEFA Euro 2024 this summer. The PSG center-back went on Instagram to issue a statement regarding the injury.

“When I signed with PSG, I made a promise that I would give my heart and soul to this team and this is what I have done ever since,” Hernandez wrote. “Unfortunately, during last night’s match, I ended up with an injury.

“I pushed myself back onto the field and tried to keep on fighting for our team, but it was not possible. I would like to thank all my fans and loved ones for the love and support. My comeback will be stronger than ever before. Love, LH21.”

PSG will look to overcome a 1-0 deficit at home when they host Dortmund on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes.
